Making Tradeston safer and more appealing for people to walk around will encourage active transport, help the environment and improve the well-being of those living and working in the area. The ongoing development with the Barclays campus will naturally bring more attention and visitors to Tradeston but as this is located right on the river front, the rest of Tradeston might not get the same attention.
Much of Tradeston is currently undeveloped but due to the strict grid street pattern throughout the area, these spaces are all disconnected and vary dramatically in size. If these could be connected by a series of civic spaces the area would be much more pedestrian friendly and it would vastly improve the green canopy in Tradeston.
